Johnny, you may want to double-check if the photo really wasn't taken in the golden room. I can shudder thinking about what he's trying to communicate here. The room sequence is richly symbolic and multilayered, but the trauma-induced dream interpretation makes sense of virtually every detail. The fact that he in-character as Delbert Grady gets to berate Jack for getting beat up by his sentient scarecrow of a wife is icing on the cake. I am somewhat surprised though that you omitted a very obvious deliberate "error" on the part of Kubrick:
Greetings from Sicily italia. Psychologically, we associate green with calm, safety. I must have watched this movie twenty times before I noticed that. The scene culminates with the gang coming across a ghostly dance in the Overlook's ballroom, where a recreation of Karen Underwood awaits someone who will give her the dance she was denied all those years ago. The lateral lines are just as dark as the lines that run up and down and should be there also in the picture. Art3mis ends up being the savior here, but in spite of the female character coming to the rescue, much of what happens here speaks to the trouble at the core of Ready Player One.
